About Tommaso Perazzo
Tommaso Perazzo was born on May 16, 1996 in Angera, Italy.
He has played and collaborated with great musicians such as Buster Williams, Miguel Zénon, Lenny White, Fabrizio Bosso, Flavio Boltro, Gregory Hutchinson, Wayne Escoffery, Alvin Queen, Nico Gori, Francesco Bearzatti and Rosario Bonaccorso.
With his bands and as a sideman he has performed at various festivals and clubs in Europe such as Umbria Jazz, Torino Jazz Festival and Peperoncino Jazz Festival (in Italy), Guimarães Jazz in Portugal, Moana Jazz in Spain and Bimhuis in Holland.
He currently lives in New York, where he is active on the jazz scene, performing in prestigious American clubs such as Dizzy’s Jazz Club, Mezzrow, Zinc Bar, and Blues Alley in Washington.
His most recent project is a trio with a jazz icon, double bassist Buster Williams, and the talented Neapolitan drummer Marcello Cardillo, with whom he recorded the album “Portrait of a Moment.”
The album, released in May 2025, was produced by the historic Italian label “Red Records” and was presented by the trio with a six-date tour in Italy at various Festivals across the Country.
Perazzo moved to New York City in 2019, where he obtained a scholarship at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York. There he was taught by luminaries like Phil Markowitz, Buster Williams, Miguel Zénon and Rogerio Boccato: he graduated in May 2022, with a Master of Jazz piano.
Previously he lived in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where from 2015 till 2019 he attended the Conservatory of Amsterdam, in the jazz Piano section. During his four years of study in the Dutch city, he participated in many workshops, accompanying artists such as Peter Bernstein, Terell Stafford, and Ira Coleman. He had the opportunity to play with the Conservatory’s Big Band in several concerts, the last of which was conducted by American saxophonist Bob Mintzer, and to participate in several competitions: in the spring of 2018, he and his trio won second prize in the prestigious “Keep an Eye International Jazz Award” and first prize as best soloist.
In June of the same year, he participated in the “Massimo Urbani International Award,” winning first prize; this allowed him to release his debut album, “What’s Coming Next?”, recorded with his trio in Amsterdam.
He graduated cum laude from the Conservatory of Amsterdam In June 2019.
In previous years, Tommaso was selected for auditions at the “Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz” in Los Angeles (in 2018), thus having the opportunity to play in front of a jury that included Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Ambrose Akinmusire, among other artists.
He has also participated in several summer seminars and workshops, including Siena Jazz in 2014, two editions of Tuscia in Jazz (2009-2010), winning the award for “best talent” in 2010.
During the same workshop, he had the opportunity to attend classes taught by Kenny Barron, Dado Moroni, Tony Monaco, and David Kikoski.
In 2009, he participated in the “Chicco Bettinardi” competition in Piacenza, winning a special mention from the jury for new Italian jazz talents.
